Mars orbits the Sun in 1.881 Earth years, moving slightly slower than Earth. Because of the two different orbital rates of Mars and Earth, it takes 780 Earth days (on the average) for the two planets to align. This period is called the Earth-Mars, or simply, the Mars synodic cycle (a synod means a place of meeting). When Mars is standing in the Sky opposite the position of the Sun in the Sky, this opposition initiates the beginning of a new Mars synodic cycle.  Unlike Venus, which has an 8-year synodic pentagram pattern (see discussion above), the Mars synodic cycle has an irregular pattern. This is due to the highly elliptical orbit of Mars (Excerpts from Nick Anthony Fiorenza)

In the Old Man and the Sea by Ernst Hemingway, Santiago says, “A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” Hemingway beautifully epitomizes these two words, Destroyed and Defeated, in Santiago’s statement. This statement epitomizes the radical courage of a man.

The Mars Synodic Cycle was well known throughout our ancient world.  We find references to it in the Hero myths that have been handed down to us through the ages. One of the most famous stories is the myth of Hercules.

An interesting aspect of Hercules’ character is that, because of his divine strength and abilities, he did not have to willingly submit to any of the labors or punishments imposed upon him. He chose to suffer indignities such as his famous Twelve Labors or his servitude to the queen Omphale and did so willingly. His inner strength and ability to endure hardships made him an inspirational figure to the people and a symbol of stability in the midst of chaos, even if it was a chaos he himself had caused. ~ Joshua J.   • Achilles is a hero of the Trojan War, the greatest of all the Greek warriors, and is the central character of Homer’s Iliad.

  • Gilgamesh is a major hero in ancient Mesopotamian mythology and the protagonist of the Epic of Gilgamesh, an epic poem written in Akkadian during the late 2nd millennium BC.
  • The Norse God Thor in Germanic mythology (Marvel Studios Film Series)
  • Romulus and Remus in Roman mythology (Characters in the modern Harry Potter novels)

The integration of the God Archetype (Masculine Principle) energies is the basis for the Mystery School’s focus on the 26-month journey. However, through The Rose Wheel™ Mystery School’s work with the Aquarian Aries Archetype of The Fierce Protector, we discovered that The Hero’s Journey as a template for working with the Mars Synodic Cycle fell away during the Mars Underworld Phase. It was at this point in the journey that Sofia Mona Lisa was guided to align our Sacred Masculine (Christ) work with the same Ascension Path we were utilizing in the Sacred Feminine (Sophia) classes:

Multi-Dimensional Portal to Sophia/Christ Consciousness

Mars in the sky is the Sacred Masculine’s (Cosmic Christ) representation in the “As Above.” Each of us carry the Sacred Masculine energies within us as a representation of the “So Below.” The Sacred Masculine’s 26-month (779 days) journey is composed of 6 phases known as the Mars Synodic Cycle:

  • Phase Zero: Incubation (Metamorphosis into the New Masculine Archetype)
    • This phase occurs when Mars enters the astrological sign of the NEXT Mars Synodic Cycle.  This occurs just before the Mars/Sun opposition that initiates the next cycle.
    • During this phase, we are still under the influence of the preceding God Archetype. For instance:
      • The current Aquarius Mars Synodic Cycle began on July 27, 2018. 
      • The next Aries Mars Synodic Cycle begins on October 14, 2020.
      • Mars enters Aries (the astrological sign of the next Mars Synodic Cycle) on June 27, 2020.
        • You can see by looking at the dates in the previous bullets that, when Mars enters Aries, we are still in the Aquarius Mars Synodic Cycle, and thus remain under the influence of The Cosmic Visionary (Aquarius) God Archetype.
    • During this phase, we also receive insights into the new God Archetype, The Fierce Protector, while Mars is traveling through Aries before it reaches the Sun opposition point. Our visions of the new (The Fierce Protector) God Archetype are further accessible to us due to the Mars retrograde period that always precedes the Mars/Sun opposition.
  • Phase 1: The Emergence of the Masculine (The Call of the Quest)
    • This phase is initiated by the Mars/Sun opposition which includes the birth, youthful education, and the onset of the puberty period of the new God Archetype.
    • This phase ends when Mars returns back to the degree of the Mars/Sun opposition.
  • Phase 2: The Challenges (Tasks of the Masculine)
    • This phase is how the new God Archetype meets the tasks and challenges He encounters as He travels across the evening sky.
    • During this period, the God Archetype passes through numerous astrological signs that give us insight into the nature of the tasks and challenges He is facing.
    • This phase highlights the  Moon/Mars conjunctions (~ 8-11)  that illuminate His journey through this phase.
  • Phase 3: Surrender to the Underworld
    • This phase begins when Mars vanishes from the evening sky. This occurs when Mars is 15° from the Sun.
    • This is an INITIATION phase in which the God Archetype surrenders to the process of transformation.
    • This phase lasts nearly 4 months.
  • Phase 4: Rebirth and Growth of Wisdom (Healing)
    • This phase begins when Mars becomes visible in the sky.
    • Mars rises from the Underworld, He regains His strength, and He becomes a fully initiated male.
    • This phase completes when Mars re-enters the astrological sign in which this synodic cycle’s journey began.
  • Phase 5: Wisdom (Elder Phase of the Masculine)
    • This phase represents the pinnacle of the God Archetype’s journey.
    • Here, the God Archetype has integrated the knowledge and experience of the journey.
    • The God Archetype is now ready to share His Wisdom.
    • Mars enters the astrological sign of the next synodic cycle.

Our work during the Mars Synodic Cycle is both personal and transpersonal.  On the transpersonal level, we look at the aspects of the Cosmic energies that are components of the Alchemical process occurring during each phase.  On a personal level, we look at how these Alchemical components are transforming us in terms of our own evolutionary path.  I utilize your Solar Return chart for the personal alchemy.

In the past, the Piscean Gemini Archetype of The Eternal Boy was engaged through the Collective Consciousness of Humanity. Now, since our shift into the Aquarian Age at the end of the Mayan Calendar on December 21, 2012, we are engaging the NEW Aquarian Gemini Archetype of The Magical Virility God. From the Aquarian Aries Archetype of The Fierce Protector (the previous Mars Synodic Cycle) who reawakened Humanity to the Sacred Masculine as the True and Authentic expression of the Masculine versus the perverted and profane expression of the masculine known as patriarchy, the Aquarian Gemini Archetype of The Magical Virility God (the current Mars Synodic Cycle) is inviting Humanity to remember that what we imagine, we can create ~ what we believe, so shall we see ~ that the magic of the Dreamtime is available to us. There has been a definitive paradigm shift from the immature prankster boyishness frequencies of the Piscean Archetype to a mature strong masculine spirit energetic expression with the Aquarian Archetype.

When The Rainbow Meta Goddess was on the world stage from June 2020 to January 2022, She facilitated Humanity’s ability to bridge both hemispheres of the brain to shift from the lower mind into the Higher Mind at Will. As always, the Sacred Masculine serves and supports the Sacred Feminine. Now in its Aquarian Gemini Archetype, the Sacred Masculine will inspire Humanity to envision from the Higher Mind that which the Sacred Feminine can create from the Quantum Field as if by MAGIC. In this way, the Sacred Masculine, as The Magical Virility God, and the Sacred Feminine, as The Sovereignty Goddess, are co-creating our NEW Reality ~ the reality of the New Earth ~ the reality of the Higher Densities to which the Air Element of the Aquarian Gemini Archetype gives us access.

This new kind of realization is even more FUN and PLAYFUL than the jokester energies of old. The joke is on the patriarchy and its fear-based matrix. The Vigor and Potency of The Magical Virility God is imagining new worlds into being ~ worlds that will be the new playgrounds for those aligned with Divine Love.
